Who is Professor Vera Gorbunova?

Why are naked mole rats so interesting?

Professor Vera Gorbunova is the lead researcher

and advisory board member of DoNotAge,

conducting many of their in-house clinical trials.

She plays a vital role in this research organisation.

She is a prominent biologist and gerontologist researching ageing and cancer,

particularly in long-lived and cancer-resistant animals.

She is a professor of biology at the University of Rochester

and co-director of the Rochester Aging Research Center.

Her work has made significant contributions to ageing, cancer biology,

and the mechanisms underlying longevity.

What are her crucial research areas?

Gorbunova's most notable research involves studying naked mole rats.

She is known for comparing species that live for extended periods

with those with shorter-lived species.

Another focus of her work is the study of DNA repair mechanisms.

Gorbunova discovered that long-lived species tend to have

more efficient DNA repair processes, contributing to their longevity.

Gorbunova's research also includes work on the protein SIRT 6,

a sirtuin that plays a role in ageing and metabolism.

It is known as the longevity gene and the most important sirtuin.

She found that overexpression of SIRT 6 in mice led to extended lifespans

and better protection against age-related diseases, including cancer.

She also pioneered SIRT 6 Activator,

creating the first-ever ingredient that properly activates the Sirtuin 6 gene.

With DoNotAge being a health research organisation ensures health

and research must come first.

Having Prof. Vera Gorbunova on their team is a true blessing,

and we are very grateful for the ground-breaking information

and trials that she brings.
