Addicted to sugar?
You aren't alone...

Sugar is wreaking havoc on our health

Whether in the form of candy bars, pop, cookies, cereals and syrups or hidden in processed foods such as pasta sauces and salad dressings, many of us are tempted by the sweet allure of sugar.

Sugar is a carbohydrate that occurs naturally in many foods, such as fruits and vegetables.

The body requires no added sugars to function properly.

On average, adults in New Zealand consume about 37 teaspoons of sugar daily

Try these 4 tips to kick the sugar habit!

Read food labels

Monitor your intake of added sugar and choose items that have 5g or less sugar per 100g.

Reduce added sugar

Pay attention to the sugar you add to your beverages, including coffee and tea, and reduce it.

Opt for fresh fruit

When you have a craving for something sweet, choose fresh fruit instead of a sugary snack.

Adjust recipes
